Feeling Inspired.

Have you ever felt convicted to make a change in your life?

That’s a super broad question, so I can assume you have. And if you have, you know how strong and sudden a conviction can be. It hits you out of nowhere, and you have nothing to do but listen to it.

Recently, I created another Instagram account for the sole purpose of sharing my life, sharing truth, and sharing wisdom I’ve gathered as a young woman of Christ. I really enjoy making videos, and I also really enjoy blogging, so I figured Instagram was the happy medium.

Yesterday, I made the decision to delete social media altogether - for a number of reasons.

Reason 1

It was a MAJOR time-suck in my life. Major.

Reason 2

It caused me to compare myself (as it does most young girls) to other influencers and friends.

Reason 3

I thought to myself, would anything actually bad come from deleting Instagram? I concluded not.

Reason 4

Life is so complicated these days. I desire to simplify my life, and social media is the #1 obstacle.

Reason 5

After weighing the pros and cons (and there are many pros…), the cons far outweighed the pros.

I deleted it on a whim, while I was feeling inspired. Yesterday was rough.

I kept reaching for my phone, like muscle memory, only to realize that I had no other reason for doing so other than scrolling social media. None.

Anytime I was using my phone, I would tap where the Instagram app used to be, like muscle memory. Over and over again. I would catch myself, only to literally do the same thing immediately after.

So I’m having to undo and rewire, as most detoxes require.

I still love sharing bits and pieces of my life  - and I also want to share this particular no-social-media experiment - so back to blogging I go.

Whether you’ve never had social media, you’ve taken a temporary detox from it, or deleted it altogether, I want to hear your experience.

Will this be a permanent change of mine? I don’t know… but so far, I hope so.

In Christ’s love,

Olivia
